Mobile Games Can Affect Kids Health Badly

I got two children, a son 3 years old and a daughter one and a half year old. Both love to play mobile games on my smart phone. At first I was relieved that I had found an easy distraction, and they would easily spend half an hour with the phone. I never let them play with the devices for more than a few minutes straight, because I strongly believe the bright light emitted from the screen won't be good for their young eyes. Top games and apps my kid Faatir plays happily are more or less
  1. Fisher Price Rhymes
  2. Talking Tom Cat
  3. Ant Smasher
  4. Fruit Ninja
  5. Candy Crush (he likes the music)
  6. Mortal Skies (Basically any game with a plane flying around)

Some of these can be considered good games for kids though, for example Fisher Price has got nice apps and Fruit Ninja is also cool.

But then there are other games that can adversely impact your kid's attitude and mental health. I experienced the example for myself when my son smashed a real live ant right in front of me, I tried to stop his hand but he had already killed the poor thing.

I then realized that the my kids mental health is being affected by the game "Ant Smasher" specifically. Its a game in which ants walk on to the screen from one side, and the player only needs to touch them to smash and kill. It is a very simple game and my kid loves to play it.
I also noticed that both my son and daughter throw pillows on stray cats that some times show up for dinner left overs. That was happening due to another mobile app, "Talking Tom" which repeats anything your kid will say in a shrill voice and do crazy things if the child touches it.

As you can see in the left most image, the feathers are flying right after a pillow hit on cat's face. I tried several times but could not capture the exact moment of pillow impact. The image in centre shows that the cat is scared and climbed on a chandler to save itself. The right most picture just shows a smug looking cat, which will repeat anything you say after her. Talking Tom is definitely not the best kids game out there.
There's a lot of talk about how games like "Grand Theft Auto" are spoiling young people, but unfortunately nobody seems to be bothering about how various mobile games can turn your child into a cruel animal torturing monster from a very early age. It is always a good idea to teach our children how to love, and someone needs to create games for kids with specifically this goad in mind.

The Conclusion

  • Mobile games can be good fun, and children mostly enjoy these a lot. But parents need to be careful in choosing what games their child should play and what to avoid in order to have healthy kids.
  • Apart from attitude and behaviour problems, excessive use of mobile games can be harmful for your kids eyesight and sleep routine, don't let them play a lot of mobile games.
  • Promethazine based drugs are some times suggested by the doctors to help kids sleep, but an overdose can be fatal. If someone keeps feeding their child Phenergan regularly it is very harmful for the kids health in long run. Games are similar to the drug, these can be harmful on multiple levels if not used with caution.
